Chandni Chowk to China - Biggest Bollywood crossover flick?

Is Chandni Chowk to China the biggest film of an international scale that Bollywood has seen in the recent times? Will it be THE crossover film coming out of our country? If the theatrical promo of this Nikhil Advani directed film is any indication, this seems to be pretty much the case. Unveiled over the weekend gone by, the theatrical promo stuns from beginning till the end as it is truly grandiose and spectacular.
Says a source close to the film, "Nikhil (Advani) has gone all out in making sure that Chandni Chowk to China lives up to the mammoth expectations that people have from this Akshay Kumar starrer. The film is being pitched as a film that takes inspiration from Akshay's real life journey from being a chef to a superstar. Due to this the stakes are high and audience has to be presented with a truly grand affair that justifies the claims that have been made."
So what one gets is not just an ample dose of Akshay Kumar as he gets into the martial art act but also the kind of visuals that have been associated with Chinese classics such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
"The martial arts have to be seen to be believed. Also, a fortune has been spent on the special effects to make the film look world class. You have a look at the theatrical promo and you would get an idea for yourself that how spectacular the setting of the film has been. Also, what sets apart Chandni Chowk to China from any other routine masala flick is that it is not merely an action comedy but has a deeper storyline to it. There are some Chinese legends that have been unearthed in the film and Akshay Kumar unwittingly becomes a part of them", adds the source.
With Deepika Padukone in a double role and music, which seems all set to be a chartbuster, Chandni Chowk to China is all set to be the biggie which would change the fortunes of Bollywood as it enters into 2009.

Akshay Kumar's Jumbo is actually a Thai film

Apart from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Ghajini, if there is one film which is trying to grab attention, it is Akshay Kumar's Jumbo where the superstar has not just lent his voice for the central character of an elephant but also shot for an exclusive music video - 'Everything Is Gonna Be Alright'. While Percept Picture Company has proudly flashed their association with Akshay Kumar for the film and there have been (reported) talks about him being paid Rs. 9 crores to come behind the mike, the production house has chosen to keep the film's origin as a closely held secret.Well, the secret which has been unveiled now throws quite some surprise as it is revealed that the animation film Jumbo is neither an Indian product nor has it been made in collaboration with an International animation house. Instead, Percept Picture Company has claimed the rights of a Thai film that goes by the name of Khan Kluay. Khan Kluay, which was released in 2006, is a Thai computer-animated feature film and is about a baby elephant named Khan Kluay who wanders away from his mother and eventually becomes the war elephant (for whom Akshay Kumar has given the voiceover). The film has been directed by Kompin Kemgumnird, an animator who has worked on the Disney features such as Atlantis: The Lost Empire & Tarzan and also Blue Sky Studios' Ice Age. The film was in the making for three years and cost 150 million baht (about $3.9 million USD). When released in 2006, the film was the highest grossing Thai film in 2006 with an approximate box-office receipt of 91 million baht. The film has already been released on DVD in the United States with its title as The Blue Elephant. The movie has won numerous awards ever since its release and now looks at making an impression at Indian theaters with Akshay Kumar endorsing its case.

Not possible to get into fights with Akshay: Sanjay Dutt

Mumbai, Contrary to reports about the two stars not seeing eye to eye, Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar got along like a house on fire when they came together after 14 years to shoot the underwater thriller "Blue".
"The last time Akshay and I worked together was in 'Amaanat' in 1994. And now 'Blue'. I can see the transformation in him from then to now. It's been a long journey for him. And in many ways, I see a reflection of my own journey," Sanjay told IANS.During the two-month-long shooting schedule in Bangkok and Phuket for Anthony D'Souza's directorial debut, the two actors bonded big time, exchanging notes in between complicated underwater sequences.Rubbishing reports of fights with Akshay in Bangkok, Sanjay said: "Who's spreading these rumours? Obviously some people can't tolerate the fact that I get along with my co-stars. They want to see me fighting with my co-stars and directors. Sorry, I won't oblige. Getting into fights with Akshay isn't possible."I'm a guy who gets along with everybody. And anyone who knows me will vouch for this. Akshay is like a younger brother to me. He gives me so much respect it's embarrassing to hear we've been fighting. And the way he has struggled from scratch to become a big star is exemplary," Sanjay said."They also wrote that I was having a fight with director Tony in Bangkok. I was in the water most of the time while he was directing me. When do I get a chance to have a fight with anyone? If anyone is trying to spoil the party for me, let me tell these spoilsports they aren't going to succeed. They aren't going to be invited for my parties."Just one problem in this new pally scenario. The two wives - Maanyata and Twinkle Khanna - haven't really met or hit it off with each other.

'Khiladi' Akshay Kumar is desperately seeking Katrina Kaif

Spicezee Bureau Mumbai, Nov 25: Call it superstition or lady luck, but Akshay Kumar is desperately seeking Katrina in all his films. The uber hit onscreenjodi that have been touted ‘King and Queen’ at the Box Office this year are in no mood to part ways, for the man in this filmy relationship is exploring all ways to rope in the long legged lass in all his ventures. Then even if that means the ‘Kinng’ will have to twist a few things or two, the actor doesn’t seem to mind it at all.

Ever since his ‘Singh Is Kinng’ days, filmmakers have been forming ques to cast the dishy actor. While Akki has been giving his nod to more or less all projects, he is making sure he lays down his terms loud and clear. And leading the actors wish list is hottie naughty Katrina Kaif.

According to a news daily, Akki is pushing filmmakers to rope in Katrina. The actor who will next be seen opposite Deepika Padukone in ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ apparently is not to keen to share screen space with other B-town chicks.

Looks like Akshay has fallen head over heels for Kat, and guess what? Our angry ‘old’ man Salman does not seem to mind this at all. The actor has reportedly gotten used to the Akki- Kat chemistry (onscreen ofcourse) and is all supportive of Katrina romancing the ‘Kinng’ not King for that is a title bagged by SRK.

For now the couple will once again be back together in 'De Dhana Dhan' – a Priyadarshan film. And going by the industry buzz, Katrina will be indeed the lucky lady to play the lead role in Akki’s first home production.

With Akshay ruling the BO charts, we would say Katrina has walked away with the biggest piece of the pie.
